Just For Kicks

My dear old college pal Georgie has said that I talk too much about knitting on my, um, knitblog . Frankly, I'm quite flattered that he (and all you other non-knitting pals) even visits, despite the possibility that he may get stuck with an entire posting devoted to the tintilating appeal of Kidsilk Haze (more on that later). So, I stole this meme from Deb and just thought it was kinda fun, cuz I'm nerdy like that:

Instructions: Look at the list of books below. Bold the ones you've read, italicize the ones you might read, cross out the ones you won't, underline the ones on your book shelf [or, in the case of this html-challenged blogger, hi-lited in green], and place (parentheses) around the ones you've never even heard of.

The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown
The Catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - Douglas Adams
The Great Gatsby - F.Scott Fitzgerald
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
His Dark Materials - Philip Pullman
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - J. K. Rowling
Life of Pi - Yann Martel
Animal Farm: A Fairy Story - George Orwell
Catch-22 - Joseph Heller
The Hobbit - J. R. R. Tolkien
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time - Mark Haddon
Lord of the Flies - William Golding
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
1984 - George Orwell
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - J. K. Rowling
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Gabriel Garcia Marquez -- Quite possibly my favorite book of all time. One of these days, I will get my Spanish up to speed so I can read it the way it was written ... sigh. Someday ...
Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur Golden
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini
The Lovely Bones - Alice Sebold
Slaughterhouse 5 - Kurt Vonnegut
Angels and Demons - Dan Brown -- Despite having enjoyed Davinci..., I haven't been called by this one, yet.
Fight Club - Chuck Palahniuk -- I keep checking this out of the library, and then returning it before I've had a chance to get to it.
Neuromancer - William Gibson
Cryptonomicon - Neal Stephenson
The Secret History - Donna Tartt
A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
Brave New World - Aldous Huxley
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C. S. Lewis -- A very, very long time ago!
Middlesex - Jeffrey Eugenides
Cloud Atlas - David Mitchell
The Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkien
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
Good Omens - Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman
Atonement - Ian McEwan
The Shadow Of The Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon
The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway
The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath
Dune - Frank Herbert

The ones with no markings whatsoever are books that I'm indifferent about.

In other geeky news, I was rather amused by this article on the fate of "whom".

So, the Kidsilk Haze -- I made it to knitting club tonight (as opposed to last week when I never woke up from my catnap) and Kelly, sitting next to me, was working with it while I ogled it, and could not stop petting it. It's a good thing there's no such thing as yarn harassment because I'd be guilty as charged. I have heard raves about this yarn, and now I know what all the fuss is about. Now I must get my hands on some. Kelly, thank you for being so gracious to me, and opening up a new (potentially bank-breaking) world for me (not so thankful about that part!). Talk about yarn envy!

Just wait til I finish it up and add the chiffon... you'll want to roll around the floor with it. Hopefully we won't be at Lux that week, their floor is kind of nasty! ;-)
